Pupil Forecasting
Cognisant Research are experienced at working with Local Education Authorities (LEAs) to maximise Section 106 education contributions from developers using robust Pupil Product Ratios (PPRs). The PPR is the number of pupils per 100 dwellings often broken down by age groups.
We conduct door-to-door interviews across an entire development, or a sample of new housing developments, to identify the number and age of children resident. We are also capable of reviewing ONS and local authority data sets to construct a model projecting population growth. The model is broken down by relevant age groups, against individual school catchment areas.

South Gloucestershire: Pupil Product Ratios
PPR data has been produced covering the whole of South Gloucestershire. A random sample of around 2,000 houses contributed to robust data covering the whole county, stratified by dwelling type and size. The sample is drawn from properties built after 1996. This data and method has been verified using actual returns from schools within the Emerson’s Green area, showing a greater than 99% accuracy rate.
